Peter Fehlner, Mariologist and rector of the shrine, gives a formal introduction to the symposium. He explains the title of the symposium “Mother of the Church” and what it means to call Mary this, relating it to the 8th Chapter of Lumen Gentium of Vatican II and the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe and then gives a logical outline of the upcoming talks and how they relate to the prerogatives of Mary as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate.

Conferences #43 – Raymond De Souza talks at La Crosse Shrine on the Five offenses Against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Coredemption ( 44min) >>> Play

Ave Maria!

In 2009 Raymond De Souza of St Gabriel Communications and Human Life International, an EWTN personality and a speaker of international renown gave a talk at our Coredemption Conference. He expounds on the Five Offenses against the Immaculate Heart as listed in the Apparition of Our Lady to the children of Fatima for which she asked reparation. He relates this to the general call to participate in the sufferings of Christ, our Redeemer, and so participate in the work of salvation in a way similar to Our Lady the Coredemptrix.

This Saturday we will have a Live Broadcast of our 2010 Coredemption Conference again at La Crosse it will start at 9:45 AM and end at 6:30 PM

Topic: Fourth Sorrowful Mystery – Carrying of the Cross
In honor of the Month of the Precious Blood

Quote:
Then therefore [Pontius Pilate] delivered him to them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him forth. And bearing his own cross, he went forth to that place which is called Calvary, but in Hebrew Golgotha.
John 19:16-17

Meditation:
Father Frederick Faber
It was a dreadful thing for a mother to walk the streets over her own son’s blood. (more…)

Congratulations to Archbishop Raymond Burke

Thursday, July 29th, 2010
Ave Maria!
Congratulations to Archbishop Raymond Burke for his appointment as a member of the Congregation of the Causes of Saints.
Diane at Te Deum Laudamus and her commenters has compiled a list of the many responsibilities given to Bishop Burke since going to Rome. Here is the list:
The story was also picked up by Patrick Madrid and Thomas Peters both of whom agree with Diane that this flies in the face of some dissenting Catholics who suggest that he was moved to Rome to silence his orthodox views.  Not only is this not the case but he is a prime candidate for Cardinal.
La Crosse – Marian Symposium
If you wish to congratulate him personally on his latest appointment, he will be coming on August 21st to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI  which he was instrumental in having built while he was the bishop there. The occasion will be the 2010 Marian Symposium, MARY: COREDEMPTRIX, MEDIATRIX, ADVOCATE presented by the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, the  Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Vox Populi Mariae Mediatrici:
The august speakers will be:
HIS EMINENCE LUIS CARDINAL APONTE MARTINEZ – Archbishop Emeritus, San Juan, Puerto Rico

HIS EXCELLENCY ARCHBISHOP RAYMOND L. BURKE – Prefect, Apostolic Signatura, Rome

MSGR. ARTHUR B. CALKINS – Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, Mariologist

In honor of the Month of the Precious Blood

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

Mary Vitamin

Mary Vitamin for July 23rd

Topic: The First Sorrowful Mystery of the Rosary
(In honor of the month of the Precious Blood)

Quote:
And there appeared to him an angel from heaven strengthening him. And being in
an agony, he prayed the longer. And his sweat became as drops of blood,
trickling down upon the ground.
Luke 22:43-4

Meditation:
Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich explains that Our Lord in the garden of
Gethsemane “understood not only the consequence of every species of
concupiscence, but also its own peculiar expiatory chastisement, the
significance of all the instruments of torture connected with it; so that not
only the thought of the instrument made Him shudder, but also the sinful rage of
him that invented it, the fury and wickedness of all that had ever used it, and
the impatience of all, whether innocent or guilty, who had been tortured with
it. All these tortures and afflictions Jesus perceived in an interior
contemplation, and the sight filled Him with such horror that a bloody sweat
started from the pores of His sacred Body.”
The Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations, Volume 4, (Tan Books), 89

Does a mother suffer only when she witnesses the suffering of her child? Or does
she suffer over and over again in her heart, anticipating the suffering of her
child? Is Our Lady not aware of the avarice of Judas and the hatred of the
leaders in the Temple towards her Son? A mother in her compassion cannot help
but anticipate the pain and suffering of her child. It is not recorded in Holy
Scripture that Our Lady was present in the Garden, but her heart was always
unwaveringly united with God, and she would share in his agony on the eve of the
great manifestation of God’s passionate love for mankind. She would share, the
way a Mother shares in the suffering of her son: silently, meekly, heart
breaking, full of love, yet accepting.

Resolution:
I will meditate in the Rosary what it cost Our Lady to accept the Will of God in
the Redemption of humanity. Our Lady does not need to be present in
the Garden of Gethsemane to share in the suffering of Her Son.

Marian Vow:
The Immaculate was the universal Mediatrix of redemption, to wit, was the only
Coredemptrix who has shared in person with the Redeemer –”under Him and with
Him” (LG 56) — the work of universal redemption, cooperating actively with her
tears, mixed in the Blood of Her Crucified Son, to rescue sinful mankind, from
Adam to the last man who lives on the earth.
Marian Seraphic Pathways, Statutes #51

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.

Video – Defend Pope Benedict & Fifth Marian Dogma pt2- Dr. Miravalle: Mcasts67

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Click to Play Video

MaryCast Specials #67 ( 07min) Play – Mark Miravalle continues from his previous video where he asks us to defend Pope Benedict and pray for the declaration of the Fifth Marian Dogma, Mary as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate.  He notes how it was in a time of life threatening crisis that Pope Pius IX declared the dogma of the Immaculate Conception in 1854 and how the Papacy then enjoyed over a century of growing prestige. Is it a coincidence, then, that as the persecution mounts against Pope Benedict he has started using the title “Mediatrix of Graces” for Mary. Yes, now is the time to pray for this declaration!!

There at the Foot of the Cross…

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

Ave Maria Meditations

There at the foot of the Cross…

The Apostle John stands at the foot of the Cross with Our Lady on Calvary. John is the sole witness among the Twelve to Jesus’ crucifixion, and the only evangelist to record his cry of thirst (see Jn 19:28). Yet we can presume that he already had a relationship with Mary, who in turn led him to the Cross on Good Friday. We know that John, too, had run away in fear, just like the others, as Jesus had predicted (see Mt 26:31). But John, recognizing his weakness, at some point along the way found Our Lady amid the crowd on the Via Dolorosa. In her he found a love, a strength, and a serenity that surpassed his own, and a heart to open his own to the words he alone among the Twelve would hear. Our Lady brought John to faithfulness, and to witness the thirst of her Son. This is what she did for Mother Teresa. This is what she offers to do for every disciple.
