Homily #100825 ( 10min) Play – Fr Angelo, on the occasion of the Anniversary of the Dedication of our Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe here in Griswold, preaches on how we are on a journey, a pilgrimage, here on earth where we are searching for our final resting place, the Heavenly Jerusalem. The New Jerusalem is the subject of the first reading taken from the Book of Revelation for the dedication of a church and Father points out how the physical churches that we build are little way stations along this journey a small piece of heaven for rest along the journey.

Fi News – The saints who live among us | SouthCoastToday.com

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Ave Maria! Linda Andrade Rodrigues of South Coast Today (online version of New Bedford’s Standard Times) published an article about us today, St. Maximilian Kolbe’s Feast Day. She had many kind words about us and Mother Teresa’s Order in New Bedford. We will have to explain to her,  though, that we are not quite ready for canonization. Thanks, Linda!

NEW BEDFORD — Trappist monk and author Thomas Merton wrote, “Oh my God! You see what a barren and desolate place this world is —- send us saints!”

The answer to his prayers, our city is blessed by the good works of saints.

Walk along our streets, and you’ll see Mother Teresa’s nuns in their white and striped-blue habits, ministering in our neighborhoods.

Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta sent her order, the Missionaries of Charity, to New Bedford, and on June 14, 1995, she visited the city, worshipped at the Church of St. Lawrence Martyr and touched the lives of countless SouthCoast residents.

Dressed in simple gray robes with sandaled feet, the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate reach out to this city’s homeless and forgotten, and offer spiritual guidance to a constant stream of strangers who wander through the doors of Our Lady’s Chapel in downtown New Bedford. More …

Aug 02 – Homily – Fr Bonaventure: Our Lady of the Angels

Monday, August 2nd, 2010
Click to Play

Homily #100802 ( 15min) Play – Today is the feast of the chapel of Our Lady of the Angels also known as the Portiuncula or “Little Portion” and it is there that St Francis took up residence after his conversion and where the Order of Friar Minors first started to grow. Also it was known for being frequented by angels and thus its name. It is one of the three churches that St Francis rebuilt as preparation for his mission from Christ to rebuild the entire Catholic Church in general. So it had a very dear place in St Francis’s heart and he commanded his brothers to never give up possession of it. In fact, he asked his brothers to bring him there when he was dying and there passed from this life to the next.

Fi News – Last Night’s Live Broadcast

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Ave Maria!

The live broadcast of the Mass went well for the Solemnity of St. Joseph. We had about 115 viewers who viewed the Missa Cantata on AirMaria and at least two other sites who embedded the viewer, Rorate Caeli and Pro Multis Media. Thank you both for this. We had some audio problems and some glitches with the switching between the two cameras, but we are learning. The Chapel was quite full and the choir was simply heavenly as was the liturgy. All in all we have much to be thankful for. Glory be to God!

Videos Available at Ustream:

St Joseph #1 Missa Cantata – Prayers at the Foot of the Altar through the Gospel. Missed a few minutes at the beginning. Sorry about that. I was asleep at the switch.

St Joseph #2 Missa Cantata Homily – Missed 1st minute trying to restart recording. Early audio problems but gets better around 3min.

St Joseph #3 Missa Cantata – Suscipiat to Agnus Dei, includes the Consecration.

St Joseph #4 Missa Cantata – Domine non sum dignus, Communion.
