Thoughts from St. Teresa of Jesus

Ave Maria Meditations
October 15th : St. Teresa of Jesus
(Teresa of Avila, Carmelite reformer)
Some favorite sayings and quotes:

“Christ has no body now, but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth, but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which
Christ looks compassion into the world.
Yours are the feet
with which Christ walks to do good.
Yours are the hands
with which Christ blesses the world.”
+
Let nothing trouble you,
let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
He who possesses God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

St. Therese of the Child Jesus: Love is Repaid by Love Alone

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Ave Maria Meditations

I WILL SPEND MY HEAVEN DOING GOOD ON EARTH!

LOVE IS REPAID BY LOVE ALONE…

…AND NOURISHED BY SACRIFICE.

+

My Heaven on Earth

To bear my exile now, within this world of tears,

The holy tender glance of Christ, my Lord, I need.

That glance, surcharged with love, consoles me through the years;

His loveliness displays foretaste of heaven indeed.

On me my Jesus smiles, when toward Him I aspire-

The trial of my faith then weighs no more on me.

That love-glance of my God, that smile of holy fire,

Oh, this is heaven for me!

+

‘Tis heaven to have the power, great grace from Christ to win

For Holy Mother Church, for all my Sisters dear,

For every soul on earth that He may enter in,

Enflame our sinful hearts, and grant us joy and cheer.

All things my love can gain when, heart to heart, I pray,

Alone with Jesus Christ in speechless ecstasy.

Beside His altar blest with Him I gladly stay,

Oh, this is heaven for me!

An Encore:

Ave Maria Meditations

O Most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel,

fruitful vine, splendor of heaven,

Blessed Mother of the Son of God,

Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity…

O, star of the sea,

help me and show me herein you are my mother.

O holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of heaven and earth,

I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart,

to aid me in my need;

there are none that can withstand your power.

O show me herein you are my Mother.

+

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

(and for those who do not have recourse to thee, especially the enemies of the Holy Church)

+

Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands.

(state your petition)

Amen.

The Carmelite Martyrs of Compiegne: “Song from the Scaffold”

July 17th: Feast of the Carmelite Martyrs of Compiegne

Blessed Teresa of Sf. Augustine and Companions (1794)

It is fitting that these Carmelite Martyrs would give their lives in witness to the Holy Faith in the day following the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel! In this ‘reign of terror’ in France, the religious were made to abandon their holy habits and disband their convents and sign an oath to the government. Death awaited those who would not compromise or succumb to this evil request. (more…)
