Homily #101017 ( 19min) Play – Our Lord gives us the parable in today’s Gospel of the unjust judge who cares nothing about God nor man, but after being pestered enough by the woman seeking justice he gives her request. Fr. Angelo preaches on the need to follow this woman’s example to pester God who is, instead, a just Judge, and so will all the more give us all that is good. Not only is it good to keep pestering good but Jesus give us a command to do so. He know all that we need ahead of time but we need to show him our trust in his goodness by continuing to beseech him even when we get tired of praying.

Aug 01 – Homily – Fr Angelo: Saving Humility of Sonship

Homily #100801 ( 14min) Play – Fr Angelo preaches on the Gospel which today is the parable of the publican and the pharisee who pray in the Synagogue. Father gives the context of the parable which is the hypocrisy of the Pharisees who accused Jesus of breaking the sabbath but then broke it themselves by plotting His death on the the Sabbath. He compares this to  the failures of people in authority today both in the Church and in society as a whole and how this causes cynicism against all authority especially in regard to fatherhood that is increasingly put down in today’s society. But cynicism is not the answer for we will be judged on our own merits and focusing on others’ faults as the Pharisee did in the parable will bring a similar judgment upon us.

Jul 14 – Homily – Fr Angelo: St. Francis Solano

Homily #100714 ( 07min) Play – The Gospel from St Luke tells His apostles to not carry a walking staff or extra clothes but depend on others to provide these things. St Francis of Assisi after reading this passage threw off his good clothes and put on a simple ones and proceeded on the life of evangelical poverty that so marked his life and charism and contrasted to the life style of the clergy of that time. St. Francis of Solanus also followed this and like the first St Francis received miraculous powers to convert hearts throughout the missionary lands of South America, converting many thousands. Let us pray for these graces to be able to bring many new converts to Christ.

Homily #100712 ( 00min) Play – In today’s Mass we honor St. Gualbert, who abandoned earthly knighthood, after Our Lord rewarded him miraculously for forgiving an enemy under heroic circumstances.  St. Gualbert became a monk, fought against simony, and later founded an very austere form of benedictine life.

The story of St. Gualbert reminds us that the knighthood of Christ and true Catholic militancy is found, not in pulling down of strongholds (2 Cor 10:4), but in the spiritual might of the Lord that frees us from selfishness.

Jun 27 – Homily – Fr Angelo: Elevated Love

Homily #100627 ( 15min) Play – In today’s Gospel Our Lord gives us a higher standard than is enjoined on us in the ten commandments that represent the natural law.

For He says:

…it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill, shall be in danger of the judgment. But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother: Raca, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say: Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Fr. Angelo thus preaches on the need to love our neighbor as Jesus has loved us, that is, selflessly even to giving our lives.
