Apr 20 – Homily – Fr Joachim: Hope and the Empty Tomb

Sunday, April 20th, 2014
Click to Play

Homily #140420n ( 14min) Play – Many fear death in today’s world, but, as Father reminds us, we need not fear death, but prepare for it, particularly by preparing for the Judgement we will all undergo after we die. Thankfully, as Father also reminds us, God desires to pour out His mercy on our sinful and broken world, and the primary place we receive this mercy is the confessional! It is there we are cleaned and made ready to meet God. We do have hope, because on Good Friday, it looked like sin and death had won, but on Easter morning, mercy triumphed over sin and the tomb of Jesus was empty.

Apr 18 – Homily – Fr Matthias: Sharing in the Passion

Friday, April 18th, 2014
Click to Play

Homily #140418n ( 12min) Play Father Matthias shows us that Jesus truly reigned from the Cross. Far from defeat, it is the crowning moment of Truth and Love which does not rule with force or empty promises like the World, but with the testimony of Suffering. God became obedient in order to restore our freedom. We are called to chose Christ, and this means to imitate Him in His obedience and suffering–we cannot be spectators to the Pascal Mystery. Let us run to the Mother of Jesus who became our Mother this very day, and place all our hope in Her, for only those who were with Her persevered to the Cross.

Apr 17 – Homily – Fr Angelo: Vine and Branches

Thursday, April 17th, 2014
Click to Play

Homily #140417n ( 18min) Play – At the opening celebration of the Triduum, the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, Father Angelo highlights the importance of not acting like Jesus, but having Jesus living in us. He told the disciples, “I am the Vine, you are the Branches,” and if we are not united to Jesus, we are like branches cut off from the vine. We need to be united to Him in the sacraments and by the mediation of the Mediatrix of Grace. Finally, Father reflects on a comment from the Holy Father’s sermon this morning reminding us that the priest without Christ is the poorest of all men, and asks us to especially pray for priests this Easter.
