Ave Maria!

Fr. Thomas Ward of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton, NY, expounds on the sacred truth of the Dignity of the Human Person. This Truth is under attack on all sides by the one who is the “Father of lies” and “Murderer from the beginning.” Father Ward explains how tolerance of lies and sin ultimately leads to the destruction of human life, and the loss of souls.

He then exhorts us to respond with uncompromising truth, generous kindness, and universal charity, all of which must animate the merciful work of the Pro-Life movement.

This sermon was given for the Annual Pro-Life Prayer Service organized by the Broome County Right to Life Committee.

Ave Maria!

On December 15th, Feast of Our Lady Queen of the Seraphic Order, six young men were clothed (or “invested”) in the habit of St. Francis at our friary in New York. The rough, cruciform tunic is an outward expression of the form of life they desire to follow: that of Jesus Christ, poor, humble and crucified. The color grey (unbeknownst to many) is the original color worn by the sons of St. Francis. The blue tint of the fabric expresses their desire to live as the possession and property of Our Lady, battling for the salvation of souls beneath her Blue Mantle.
The investiture in the “habit of probation” marks one of the first steps in their vocational journey. God willing, this journey will take them to novitiate, then to their first profession of vows, and finally to perpetual profession.
Please remember these young men in your prayers, that Our Lord and Lady may bring to completion the good work begun in their souls.

Ave Maria!

Fr. Gabriele’s homily from the Mass immediately preceding this video is available here.

Ave Maria!

Fr. Gabriele elaborates on how Pope Pius XII gave us the privilege of this feast in virtue of the deep love St Francis had for Our Lady and because his vocation and order are both gifts from Her. She is truly the Queen of the Seraphic Order, and her domain is, and must be more and more, that of our souls.

Also, it is fitting that after this Mass, there were 6 postulants who were clothed in the habit, answering the call of Jesus to Sts. John and Andrew, “Come and See.”

Please keep the new postulants in your prayers.

We are all learners, and those who help others learn are also teachers and even “masters”. The pride of the dictatorship of relativism is the claim to know and teach the truth without God. However, teachers are only good teachers to the degree they know The Truth, Jesus Christ. The most powerful lesson we can teach is that of a good life reflecting that of Jesus Himself.

This is the first of three homilies from when Fr. Peter was at Mt. St. Francis for a visit in late October. On the Feast of Sts Simon and Jude, he reflects on how Jesus called 12 men to be his co-workers in the New Covenant. He is giving us a mission us to be His co-workers, but we must understand that any true mission comes from God and depends on Him.
