Dec 19 – Homily – Fr Angelo: Advent—Penance For Our Lack of Faith

Homily #131219n ( 13min) Play - Today's readings present us with two miraculous conceptions- that of Samson and of John the Baptist. Father Angelo describes how these are prefigurements to  the Annunciation, then he compares and contrasts the visit of the Angel to Zechariah and later to Mary, and shows that while seemingly similar, the response given is profoundly different. Mary responded with questions to discern the will of God, but Zechariah's question was one of doubt. Finally, Father exhorts us to examine our own faith and response to God's graces, and encourages us to use the last few days of Advent to do penance for our lack of faith and to implore the Blessed Virgin to share in the faith with which She awaited the birth of Her Son.
