Ave Maria!

AirMaria has just reached One Million visits.  We actually don’t have a direct number of video views this translates to but even if there is only one view per visit then it is one million views. We seem to get as many views of our videos on AirMaria as on our account at Youtube so it is probably around 1.5 million especially since there are many more videos on AirMaria than on our Youtube channel.

On other sites we have racked up views as follows.

  • Youtube over 1.5 Million

  • Catholic Online we have 2,653 videos at an average of 2500 views long term is about 6.5 million views

That  is a total of 15.5 million views! Deo Gratias!

Please consider a donation to help keep us going with this very effective yet expensive apostolate. May God reward you for your support and and all your interest in our site. And come visit again soon!

Humanae Vitae Predicted Moral Malaise

Saturday, June 30th, 2012

During our Fortnight for Freedom we may want to reflect on the damage that contraception has done to our society. Pope Paul VI predicted all this over forty years ago in his famous encyclical Humanae Vitae in the form of a warning that if we don’t reject contraception. Unfortunately, this warning was not heeded and even lampooned by our society. Let us hope that at least after all his warnings have been clearly vindicated that we will have the sense to reject this element of the culture of death. Ave Maria!

Ave Maria!

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Saints Peter and Paul

Friday, June 29th, 2012

Ave Maria Meditations

During this “Fortnight for Freedom”, let us pray to these glorious Saints to protect our            religious freedom!

Petitions to St. Peter and St. Paul

O holy Apostles, Peter and Paul, I choose you this day and forever to be my special patrons and advocates; thee, Saint Peter, Prince of the Apostles, because thou art the Rock, upon which Almighty God hath built His Church; thee, Saint Paul, because thou wast fore-chosen by God as the Vessel of election and the Preacher of truth in the whole world.

Obtain for me, I pray you, lively faith, firm hope, and burning love; complete detachment from myself, contempt of the world, patience in adversity, humility in prosperity, attention in prayer, purity of heart, a right intention in all my works, diligence in fulfilling the duties of my state of life, constancy in my resolutions, resignation to the will of God and perseverance in the grace of God even unto death; that so, by means of your intercession and your glorious merits, I may be able to overcome the temptations of the world, the flesh and the devil, and may be made worthy to appear before the chief and eternal Shepherd of souls, Jesus Christ, Who with the Father and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth for endless ages, to enjoy His presence and love Him forever. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be.

V. Thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.
R. They shall be mindful of Thy name, O Lord.

Let us pray:  O God, Whose right hand raised up blessed Peter, when he walked upon the water and began to sink, and thrice delivered his fellow-Apostle Paul from the depths of the sea, when he suffered shipwreck: graciously hear us and grant, by the merits of them both, that we also may attain unto everlasting glory: Who livest and reignest world without end. Amen

Hannah C. Smith is the Senior Counsel for the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. Her organization was the first in the nation to file lawsuits against the HHS Insurance Mandate on behalf of Belmont Abbey College, Colorado Christian University, EWTN, Ave Maria University, and others.

She recently came to La Crosse, WI to discuss a multitude of growing threats to the free exercise of religion guaranteed by the First Amendment.

The evening was sponsored by the Diocese of La Crosse, the La Crosse Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, and the Newman Catholic Students of UW-La Crosse.

Homily #120629 ( 11min) Play – Fr. Bonaventure on how Sts. Peter and Paul were gifts to the Church from God and did so much to spread the faith far and wide in the early Church. They finally ended their long journey with martyrdom in Rome, the center of worldly power, but would soon become known as the center of eternal, spiritual power. Let us continue their great mission under the successor of St. Peter in the spirit of St. Paul in the Holy Roman Church.

Homily #120628 ( 09min) Play – Fr. Bonaventure on the need to do works out of Faith. We need to know our true faith and then put this faith into action, for faith without works is truly dead. This is highlighted by the example of St. Iraneus who died a martyr’s death for this true faith and so entered into eternal life.

From our Magazine >>> Our Lady of Prompt Succor: “Victory is Ours”.

The History Behind Mary’s Title and Devotion

An Article by Sr. Faustina Olson, FHI

The Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, under the care of the French Ursuline nuns, is situated in New Orleans on a spacious parcel of land shaded by tall oaks. The large Church houses two miraculous statues of Our Lady and is outlined with exquisite stainedglass windows.

The Nuns established a convent in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1727.The convent boasts the oldest school for girls, which continues to this day.

Many have heard about the battle of New Orleans and the astounding statistics of this victory for Andrew Jackson and America. They have learned about it through … >>> Read More >>> Our Lady of Prompt Succor: “Victory is Ours”.

Homily #120627 ( 06min) Play – Fr. Bonaventure preaches on today’s Gospel which refers to wolves in sheep’s clothing,  pastors that do not follow the Lord’s Gospel but there own. This can take the form of excess or defect, of too lenient or too rigid of an interpretation. The way to discern is to compare the teaching with that of the pope.

On the Real Presence

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

Ave Maria Meditations

“Hidden God, devoutly I adore Thee, truly present beneath these veils: all my heart subdues itself before Thee, since all before Thee faints and fails.” (cf. Adoro Te Devote)

 Meditation

1. “Verbum caro factum est” (John 1, 14). The Incarnation of the Word, the ineffable mystery of the merciful love of God, who so loved man that He became “flesh” for his salvation, is, in a way, prolonged and extended through the ages, and will be until the end of time, by the Eucharist, the Sacrament by means of which the Incarnate Word became Himself our “food”. God was not content with giving us His only Son once for all, willing Him to take flesh in the womb of the Virgin — flesh like ours, so that He might suffer and die for us on the Cross — but He wished Him to remain with us forever, perpetuating His real presence and His sacrifice in the Eucharist.

Aided by the Gospel narrative we can reconstruct and relive in our heart the sweet mysteries of the life of Jesus. Had we nothing but the Gospel, however, we would have only nostalgic memories; Jesus would no longer be with us, but only in heaven at the right hand of the Father, having definitively left earth on the day of His Ascension. With what regret we would think of the thirty-three years of our Saviour’s earthly life passed centuries ago! Oh, how different the reality! The Eucharist makes the presence of Jesus with us a permanent one. (more…)
