We prepare for the 40 DAYS FOR LIFE fall campaign

40 Days for Life is a community-based campaign that draws attention to the evil of abortion through the use of a three-point program:

  • Prayer and fasting
  • Constant vigil
  • Community outreach

40 Days for Life takes a determined, peaceful approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion in their own neighborhoods, for their own friends and families. It puts into action a desire to cooperate with God in the carrying out of His plan for the end of abortion in America.

The 40-day campaign tracks Biblical history, where God used 40-day periods to transform individuals, communities … and the entire world. From Noah in the flood to Moses on the mountain to the disciples after Christ’s resurrection, it is clear that God sees the transformative value of His people accepting and meeting a 40-day challenge.

Vision and mission

40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God’s power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion in America. The mission of the campaign is to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40 day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion in America.

From September 28th-November 6th, many communities will be joining together for a faith-filled, groundbreaking, coordinated pro-life mobilization — 40 Days for Life.

We are praying that, with God’s help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city — and throughout America and the world.

Please prayerfully consider how you might take part in this pro-life effort this Lent.  www.40daysforlife.com

Our Lady found this unworthy lukewarm person and obtained for her the grace to enter the Third Order of the Franciscans of the Immaculate. May this person spend all eternity in showing her gratitude.

Ave Maria! The 40 Days for Life in La Crosse, Wisconsin kicked off today, with about 70 people in attendance for a few hours of talks (Will Goodman and Mary Turner) and songs (Linda Kuehl), with several local-area priests in attendance (Fr. Jesse Burish and Fr. Robert Schaller led the opening and closing prayers respectively). A highlight of the kick-off was when the approximately 25 children in attendance demonstrated the posters they had prepared for the sidewalk vigil that followed outside the Gunderson-Lutheran Hospital, the only location in La Crosse where abortions are currently performed. The whole event was expertly organized by Elizabeth Garibaldi and Marie Allen, the local organizers for 40 Days for Life. Let us all join in prayer, like the people of Nineveh of old, in this 40 days, to begin the deep conversion this country needs, if a terrible deterioration of our society is to be avoided. May Our Lady of Guadalupe help us!

We are also preparing for a 40 Days for Life. Our Kick Off Rally will be Tuesday. We have a priest to open and close the rally in prayer. We will have a Kick-Off Mass at 5:5 and the general rally at 7pm. The campus parish is hosting all the events and even providing refreshments, thanks to a benefactor, every day for the 40 Days as it is only a block from the abortion mill.

The Rally will have a nurse from the Crisis Pregnancy Center speaking and also a local politician and someone from Personhood USA. Hard to predict how many will come; 30 churches are involved at some level.

Those parents who are blessed with special needs children need to be very visible at this time; at all times!

“For whatsoever you do to the least of My bretheren, you do unto Me.” This wasn’t an idle proclamation from Christ. We need to show the world what these words mean.

The children who come into the world with special needs are more dependent on love (sacrifice) than healthy children. The more we as a community love the least the more we love Christ. We glorify God, and save our souls by loving to the maxium!!

God blesses the human race with these children so we can practice great virtues like patience, compassion, understanding, LOVE! What an awesome plan God has for us to gain heaven for all eternity!

May we see an end to the destruction of all life, and the beginning of a life of loving!

God bless all parents (and families) who live heroic lives for the sake of a special child! 🙂

    Ave Maria!
