Ave Maria! Well, as many of you have noticed, we have been down quite a few times in the last 24 hours with a message something like: Our generous benefactor who gives us the web space free (he owns a web design business) has told us that AirMaria has maxed-out the current server. The Good NewsThis is good news in that we now have about double the traffic coming to the site. The Bad NewsBut it is also bad news in that we now need to upgrade to a dedicated server! This will be about four times the price. Our benefactor would love to pay for the whole server but with EIGHT kids (truly a pro-life Catholic!) he has some pretty serious budget constraints. The cost will be $200 per month. He is willing to pitch in $50 per month and a lot of his precious time in regard to free consulting and tech support. What we need is three more people to commit to supporting us with a $50 monthly donation. If you are willing, we can even set up an electronic payment feature that will make the entire process as easy as possible in the months to come. With this server we will be able to keep AirMaria going well into the future, even with 20 times the traffic! It is something to seriously pray about. Let me know by sending an email to apostolate@airmaria.com In the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Fra Roderic |
These prayers are based on the words of the Archangels that appeared to the Franciscan sister, Mother Mariana on January 20, 1610. On this night, Mother Mariana was praying to Our Lord, Jesus Christ to be able to offer some proof of her strong love for Him. Her love for Christ rivaled that of the angelic spirits. As a result of this prayer, the three archangels appeared to Mother Mariana to strengthen and prepare her for the appearance of Our Lady with all of the prophetic messages she was to give her and for the encouragement to obey the request for a statue to be made for this devotion. She would also have the aid of St. Francis of Assisi.

The Fall Father and Son Encampment has been cancelled for a number of reasons, not least of which is my current status of living mostly in New Bedford until November when a new Guardian will arrive to take over the run of the house there. It may be a good time to take a break anyway, as we have been tossing ideas around about how to make the Encampments better and the preparations more manageable. Right now we are talking about taking the weekend “off campus,” so to speak to a campground and conducting perhaps one larger event every year, instead of three smaller ones. (We will continue to use the obstacle course at the friary for other events.) I would also like to open the Encampment to boys who have no fathers (or fathers who are involved with them at this level), since fatherlessness is a big problem and one that has long concerned me. Please pray for the Knights of Lepanto who have worked so hard to make these encampments a success. We have had a great deal of positive feedback and are very much encouraged. We hope to have something really great, innovative and powerful in the Queen of Lepanto to present for next year. I will keep you all abreast of the developments from this forum. Thank you for all your support and please spread the word about next years open encampment. Ave Maria! Leticia Velasquez and Eileen Haupt, co-founders of Keep Infants with Down Syndrome discuss what it is like to raise a child with Down Syndrome and what it has added to their lives and to their families. The benefits they received include greater patience, close bonds with their special family members and a new appreciation of the common gifts of life like walking and talking and the many other hings that take a longer time for Downs children to learn. They also learn how much children with disabilities can overcome difficulties and become productive, functioning members of society and even bring special talents. Both mothers relate how much religious devotion their Down children have. Ave Maria! +++ |
