    Ave Maria!

    Fra. Roderic,

I had NO idea about this kind of stuff. I knew that the organ transplants of major organs required killing a patient and that it was morally wrong. But, I assumed that by not placing ‘organ donor’ on my license that I would be all set. I’ve never done a living will … perhaps we should all do living wills with these specifics in place??? What about for our children, too? Will these cards that you have there, if signed and notorized, be sufficient?

  2. Donald Nelson Says:

Back in 1998, I got an organ donors card which was witnessed by
two people and their addresses were given. {Since that time both
have moved from the addresses they had at the time}. It was not
until the summer of 2006 that I became aware that organ donation of
viable organs involved killings. After that time I destroyed my organ
donor card{tearing it in half and wrapping it in an unused envelope and
putting it in the garbage disposal.}I have since drawn up a Power of
    Attorney {as opposed to a living will}.
